San Antonio – As the Gulf of Mexico stirs after a spell of calm, meteorologists are closely monitoring a weather anomaly currently forming in the Bay of Campeche. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has dubbed this system ‘Invest 91-L’ and it is expected to have an 80% chance of tropical development over the next few days.
This developing weather system is on track to potentially intensify and organize by Monday. Meteorologists predict that it will move northward along the Texas coastline. However, the forecast suggests that San Antonio might remain largely unaffected, as the bulk of moisture is anticipated to drift east of the city.
Current computer models indicate that the most significant rainfall will likely occur in southeast Texas, particularly near the Texas and Louisiana state line, while San Antonio may experience little to no rain. Rainfall associated with this system is forecasted to impact the coastal regions midweek, with the possibility of heavier precipitation affecting areas closer to the coastline.
While San Antonio is positioned on the ‘dry’ side of the developing system, forecasters emphasize the importance of monitoring any potential shifts in the storm’s track, as even minor changes could alter local rainfall predictions.
If this weather disturbance progresses into a named system, it would follow the tradition of the 2024 hurricane season with the name Francine. As the season nears its peak, community members are encouraged to stay informed and prepared for any developments.
