San Antonio – Families across San Antonio thronged to Copernicus Park this morning to be part of the Fiesta’s only completely free family event, the United Way Kids Festival. It was a day filled with entertainment, community resources, and joy for all who attended, including the animal companions.
The festival, held on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offered a wealth of activities and services to participating families. Exemplifying United Way’s dedication to ensuring the happiness, health, and kindergarten readiness of every child in San Antonio, the festival provided an exciting variety of recreational and learning opportunities.
The fun-filled occasion included an array of activities for children and adults alike. From bubble party experiences for kids to live music performances and various field activities including obstacle courses for the energetic youngsters, there was plenty to keep spirits high.
A particular highlight for the little ones was a soft-play area tailored for babies to explore and enjoy, in addition to a sensory space designed specially to meet the needs of children with sensory sensitivities. Play and learning were not mutually exclusive at the festival, as visible in the children’s competitions and contests designed to foster friendly competition and camaraderie.
A feature that deserves special mention was the book station offering free books in both English and Spanish in a bid to promote literacy and learning. And ensuring that no one went hungry or thirsty, the festival also provided complimentary food items, including traditional paletas (popsicles), fresh fruit, and more, so that families stayed refreshed and energized throughout the day’s activities.
United Way is an organization committed to ensuring that every child in San Antonio is happy, healthy, and prepared for kindergarten by providing resources and support to families within the community.
