The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio’s Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus graduate programs have recently marked substantial achievements in national rankings. This was revealed in the U.S News & World Report’s list of best graduate schools for 2025 issued recently.
The School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program positioned itself at No. 54 out of a pool of 157 schools that qualified. School of Nursing Dean Sonya R. Hardin, PhD, RN, APRN, FAAN stated, “The graduate education for nursing at UT Health San Antonio aims to amalgamate clinical experiences with the School of Nursing community associates to confirm the learner acquires a first-rate education with our native South Texans.”
Meaningfully, the position of the program improved by 15 slots from last year, making it amongst the top 35% nationally. The School also grabbed a tie at No. 31 for the Best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs category. Amongst 656 programs, it has sustained its national ranking in the top 5% of undergraduate nursing programs.
In the School of Health Professions, the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program ascended to rank 41st. To be more specific, it has stepped into the top 16% of the programs ranked. Whereas, the Doctor of Physical Therapy program sealed 106th position out of 245 programs.
Remarkably, in its debut year of eligibility for the rankings, the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program has positioned itself firmly in the ranking’s top half at No. 136, outclassing 280 programs nationally. Dean of the School of Health Professions, David Shelledy, PhD, RRT, RPFT, FAARC, FASAHP expressed his pleasure at the programs at UT Health San Antonio continuing to gain national recognition.
Emphasizing last year’s achievement, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program was ranked 40th out of 211 qualifying programs, subsuming it within the top 19% of the programs that were ranked.
The Acting President Robert Hromas, MD, FACP, shared his pride for these globally recognized programs that effectively train healthcare professionals to cater not only San Antonians but also people across all of South Texas. He stated, “These rankings manifest the superlative potential of our faculty and staff’s consistent strivation at the health science center.”
These rankings by U.S. News & World Report are based on multiple indicators of brilliance. These include research activity, faculty resources, student excellence, and qualitative evaluations from peers and professionals in each respective field.
