San Antonio Hosts North Dakota in Men’s Basketball Showdown

San Antonio will witness an exciting matchup as the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) men’s basketball team takes on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks this Friday, December 13. The game, originally scheduled for November 9, had to be postponed due to severe winter weather that hindered North Dakota’s travel to Texas. As the first of two meetings between these teams this week, the players are set to tip off at 7 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

This contest is part of a non-conference series, and tickets from the original date will be honored. Fans can also purchase single-game tickets or join the growing number of season ticket holders. Ticket prices include:

On-Air and Online Coverage

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ for subscribers and featured on the radio with play-by-play announcer Andy Everett and analyst Tim Carter. Fans can tune in to Sports Radio AM 760 The Ticket or catch the online stream at Ticket760.com.

UTSA Roadrunners’ Recent Form

The Roadrunners enter the game with a record of 3-5 after a challenging week of competition. During the previous games, they faced teams that received votes in the Associated Press Poll, notably against Saint Mary’s and Arkansas. Despite ultimately losing both games, UTSA showed resilience by coming back from a 23-point deficit against Saint Mary’s to force overtime.

Senior guard Primo Spears has been a standout player this season, leading the American Athletic Conference with an impressive average of 23.1 points per game. He has scored in double figures in every game played and logged over 20 points in six of those games. Spears also ranks among the nation’s top performers in average minutes with 36:39 per game.

Other key players for the Roadrunners include sophomore guard Marcus Millender, who averages 13.0 points per game, and senior forward Jonnivius Smith, who leads the team in rebounds with an average of 8.9 per game.

North Dakota Fighting Hawks Overview

North Dakota brings a 4-6 record into the match, arriving in San Antonio following a loss to Utah Valley (80-57). The team has shown strength with recent wins, including a victory against Weber State earlier this month. Under the leadership of coach Brett Sather, North Dakota aims to capitalize on their ability to compete defensively, as they previously led the Summit League in steals last season.

Their standout player, junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff, is recognized for his sharpshooting capabilities, averaging 18.5 points per game while contributing significantly on the boards and assists. As the teams prepare to clash, both the Roadrunners and Fighting Hawks anticipate a highly competitive atmosphere.

Upcoming Games

Following this highly anticipated matchup, both teams will travel to Grand Forks, North Dakota, to face off again on Sunday, December 15. The Roadrunners’ next home game is set for December 19 against Southwestern Adventist.

As UTSA seeks to bounce back from recent losses, all eyes will be on the exciting showdown with North Dakota this Friday night.
