In a shocking incident on Saturday morning, a body was found floating face down inside a water diversion tank at the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) treatment plant. The grim discovery was made around 9 a.m. at the Leon Creek Water Recycling Facility.
According to reports, a worker inspecting the water diversion tank stumbled upon a lifeless body. Initially unsure whether it was a person or a mannequin—an object sometimes found in the tank—the worker called another individual for confirmation. Upon closer examination, they determined it was, tragically, a human body and immediately alerted the authorities.
The San Antonio Fire Department’s Hazmat Unit was dispatched to the scene to retrieve the body. Upon removal, officials noted that the deceased appeared to show clear signs of decomposition. However, there were no visible injuries or signs of trauma.
Local police have suggested that the death may not involve foul play. Preliminary findings indicate that the man suffered an apparent sudden death. Adding to the mystery, the day prior to the body’s discovery, another worker found a backpack containing credit cards and two cell phones nearby. When the names on the credit cards were checked, they linked back to a reported missing person.
This incident has left many in the San Antonio area distressed, as they grapple with the unanswered questions surrounding the deceased individual and how he ended up in such a location. As the investigation continues, the community might brace itself for further updates regarding this unsettling event.
