Hey there, San Antonio! It’s that time of year when we are all eagerly waiting for that refreshing cool down that usually accompanies the fall season. But while the temperatures have seen some relief from the sweltering summer heat lately, the city is still stuck in what feels like a summer-style limbo. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed for a real cold front to hit soon!
As of early Monday morning, October 21, the National Weather Service had us all buzzing with excitement, predicting that a cold front could sweep through South Central Texas by the middle of the week. But just when you thought it was in the bag, the forecast took a confusing turn, leaving many of us scratching our heads.
A meteorologist from the San Antonio-Austin office explained that the models aren’t being very consistent in bringing that cold front through. It’s become a bit of a guessing game, with forecasts turning into possibilities rather than promises. So, it sounds like we’ll have to wait and see what Mother Nature has in store for us!
Even though we can’t quite bank on that chilly weather just yet, there’s still good news on the horizon. The highs for the week are expected to stay fairly stable, peaking mid-week at around 90 degrees. That’s only a degree or two shy of what is considered record temperatures for late October! Thanks to some moisture moving in from the west, we can expect some evenings filled with cloud coverage, which usually can help to trap heat in our area.
While the afternoons might still feel summery with that heat lingering, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. The good news is that after that Wednesday peak, we should see a gradual decline in temperatures. By Friday, we’ll start noticing those highs and lows slipping down a bit.
Looking forward to the weekend, Saturday night should bring some gentler temperatures, dipping below 65 degrees. By Sunday afternoon, we’re looking at highs around 88 degrees, which, while not exactly “sweater weather,” is definitely an improvement from those blisteringly hot 100-degree days we endured just a couple of months back.
It’s worth noting that although we’re not exactly in the realm of typical late October weather, where highs usually settle in the low 80s, we are finally starting to notice some relief from the hottest days of the year. It’s been a fairly mild fall overall, so we’ll take these minor changes in stride!
So, as we continue to navigate this unpredictable weather, let’s stay hopeful for that long-awaited cool front to make an appearance. In the meantime, let’s embrace the gentle decline in the heat and enjoy those cloudy evenings while we sip on our favorite warm beverages. Fall may be taking its sweet time to arrive, but we’re inching closer to it!
Until next time, San Antonio, keep looking up — after all, that sky might just surprise us!
