Weekend Road Closure on Blanco Road for Loop 1604 North Expansion Project

Weekend Road Closure in San Antonio for New Bridge Construction

San Antonio, the city known for its bustling culture and vibrant community, is gearing up for a weekend of road changes as crews work to finish the construction of a brand new bridge on Blanco Road. This construction is part of the larger Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, aimed at improving traffic flow and connectivity in the area.

When Is the Closure Happening?

If you have plans to drive on Blanco Road or the surrounding area, you might want to adjust your routes. Starting from 9 p.m. on Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday, all lanes of Blanco Road at the Loop 1604 intersection will be completely closed. This means you’ll have to be a bit creative if you want to navigate the area.

Why the Closure?

The closure is necessary as construction teams put the final touches on the bridge over Loop 1604. The good news? Once the job is finished on Monday morning, the bridge will be open to traffic! This will hopefully ease congestion and improve accessibility for everyone traveling in and out of the area.

Detour Information

To help you navigate these changes, here’s the detour information you’ll need:

  • For drivers on the Loop 1604 Eastbound frontage road wanting to access the Loop 1604 Eastbound main lanes or continue along the frontage road, take the turnaround at Blanco Road. Then, continue on the Loop 1604 Westbound frontage road lanes to take the turnaround at Bitters Road.
  • You can then turn back onto the Loop 1604 Eastbound frontage road and enter the Loop 1604 Eastbound main lanes from the Bitters Road entrance ramp.
  • If you’re heading towards Blanco Road across the interchange, make a right turn on Huebner Road heading southbound, then take a left onto Bitters Road. This will get you back to Blanco Road.
  • Alternatively, you can access Blanco Road by turning left onto Bitters Road before taking a right onto Huebner Road to connect with Loop 1604.

Planning Ahead

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is dedicated to keeping everyone informed about the ongoing road work and closures. So, it’s best to plan your trips accordingly. Avoid last-minute changes and give yourself plenty of time to navigate around any delays caused by the construction.

Working Towards a Better Future

These kinds of improvements are vital for everyone traveling around San Antonio. The enhancements brought on by the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project will not only improve driving conditions but also contribute to a more streamlined commuting experience for residents and visitors alike. Your patience is greatly appreciated during this construction phase!

So, as you prepare for your weekend, keep these road updates in mind, and make sure to share this information with others who might be affected. Safe travels, San Antonio!
