The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office announced the identity of a woman discovered dead in far West Bexar County earlier this week. Found on Wednesday morning, the woman was named as 44-year-old Lucinda Gutierrez Delgado.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation is ongoing surrounding the circumstances of her death. The body of the deceased was located off the road from Highway 211 to Highway 90, near a tree-lined section of the commonly busy road.
Sheriff Javier Salazar disclosed that the gruesome find was made by a teenager on a school bus, who spotted the body among some trees. The teen alerted her mother to the situation, who then went to the scene to verify the presence of a body before notifying the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
“It appears to be a female, possibly in her 30s or 40s,” Salazar initially informed reporters, mentioning that there were still numerous unanswered questions about her identity and the cause of her death.
One potential theory suggested Delgado, found dressed in athletic attire, might have been struck by a vehicle while jogging. However, given the relative distance of the body from the main road, Salazar conceded that it’s also possible that her body was dumped at that location.
The cause of Delgado’s death remains undetermined, as initial examination at the medical examiner’s office has not yielded any answers. In the meantime, the area where Delgado’s body was found, which has no sidewalks and sees little pedestrian movement, continues to raise questions.
Following the discovery of the body, Sheriff Salazar appealed to the public for any information about Delgado. Although numerous calls were made to the Sheriff’s Office by people believing the body to be that of a relative, none resulted in any substantial leads.
Anyone with information about Lucinda Gutierrez Delgado or the circumstances surrounding her death is encouraged to call the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210) 335-6000.
