Whataburger Joins Fortnite with New $25,000 ‘Breakfast in Bedwars’ Tournament

San Antonio, July 9th 2024 – The world of fast food and gaming is turning up the heat once again, as Whataburger enters the popular Battle Royale game, Fortnite. Not just content with a cameo appearance, the beloved burger chain is launching a tournament with an attractive prize pool of $25,000.

“Breakfast in Bedwars”: A Whataburger-themed Fortnite Map

The ‘Breakfast in Bedwars’ tournament, held on a custom creative map in Fortnite, features the recognizable Whataburger brand along with the game’s own building and combat mechanics. In each round of this tournament, four teams of three players will battle for survival, aiming to destroy their opponents’ beds while safeguarding their own.

The integration of Whataburger into Fortnite comes with thematic interpretations of the restaurant’s iconic food items and characters. Participants will get a taste of Whataburger in their intense fights through custom Whataburger beds, restaurant island bases, consumable items, power-ups, and even WhataGuy as a non-player character (NPC).

Participation and Prizes

From July 8 to July 15, gamers aged 13 and above can submit entries for the tournament, showcasing their skills on the new Whataburger “Breakfast in Bedwars” map on social platforms and marking their clips with #BreakfastInBedwars.

The top 16 entries will be designated as tournament captains and will have the exciting responsibility of forming a squad of two teammates for the qualifying round scheduled on the 17th of July. This single-elimination bracket round will then funnel down to the top four teams, who shall progress to compete against popular Fortnite creators in the main event on July 22.

The winning team can look forward to a lion’s share of the grand $10,000 prize from the total pool of $25,000.
