The city is swept under a wave of grave uncertainty as investigations continue into several instances of workplace shootings that have rocked the community. This year alone, employees have been targeted in at least four separate shootings across various workplaces.
The latest incident took place at a Sonic outlet on Babcock Rd. Earlier this week, the manager tragically lost his life in a yet-to-be-solved crime.
In December 2023, a similar incident occurred at a McDonald’s branch on S. Laredo St. Though there have been five reported cases so far, only two arrests have been made.
One case involves a woman who allegedly started shooting through a McDonald’s drive-thru window following a dispute regarding her order. She was taken into custody in May.
The other arrest was made in relation to an attempted robbery at the Purple Dragon Vape Shop on Hildebrand Ave. The police are still searching for other parties involved in this case.
Authorities are still hunting for suspects linked to other recent shootings.
One pending case involves a 17-year-old boy who was shot twice in his vehicle just after finishing work at The Texas Roadhouse on 1604 and Culebra. Another involves three women who allegedly fired shots while robbing a Circle K store at 410 & Medina Base.
The final open case relays an attempted robbery at a Vapecity store on Foster Rd. where shots were also fired. As investigations continue, the police force is urging anyone with information on these crimes to come forward.
As investigations continue, concerns are growing among local residents and businesses in the affected community for their safety. Local law enforcement is encouraging the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity that might aid the investigations.
